Reo Tahiti Basics Course

Class description:
The Reo Tahiti course is one of the most important course of this event as we believe that it is a fundamental base of the 'Ori Tahiti. This course will highlight the importance of the connection between the Reo Tahiti and the 'Ori Tahiti. You will learn also some important vocabulary and sentences in Tahitian.

'Ori Tahiti Course 

Class description:
The 'Ori Tahiti Basics course is a theoretical and practical course. You can enjoy this class even if you are not a dancer. If you are a dancer, don't forget to bring your "Pareo" (Sarong) as you will go through all the traditional dance steps, moves. In this class, you will learn the meaning of each step and move and their use.

Tahitian Culture Course

Class description:
The Tahitian culture and history are the most important foundation when learning about Tahiti. Learning about Tahitian history, Tahitian traditions, concepts, practices are important for you to have a better understanding of the meaning of the ʻOri Tahiti, the music, the language etc...

Tahitian Music/Song (Bonus Course)

Class description:
This course is not to learn how to play a traditional instrument. You will learn about all the types of traditional music and songs from Tahiti and their evolution throughout time. You will also learn a traditional Tahitian chant so you could sing like the natives.

  1. Description
    The ‘Ori Tahiti Educational event is the 1st and unique educational program offer to all ‘Ori Tahiti aficionados. This event will gather ‘Ori Tahiti lovers from all over California, possibly Canada and Mexico. 4 different Masters from Tahiti will be present and be teaching during the entire event. They will share their knowledge and expertise and will teach in depth the meaning and use of the ‘Ori Tahiti and its different aspects. In addition to the 2 day-event, Masters will be dinning with their fans where they would exchange questions, ideas, concepts about the ‘Ori Tahiti.
  2. Our Mission
    Our Mission is to perpetuate and share the Tahitian Culture in US through Education. We want this event to gather as many passionate of ‘Ori Tahiti whether they are an ‘Ori Tahiti dancer, choreographer, group leader, instructor or parent so they can learn the ‘Ori Tahiti more in depth. We want to make sure they get the best and as many information as possible from all 4 Masters of Tahitian Culture/‘Ori Tahiti.
  3. Who is invited?
    Whether you are an ‘Ori Tahiti Dancer, a Group leader, a ‘Ori Tahiti Dance instructor or lead dancer, a parent of a dancer, musician, everyone can attend this event. If you cannot dance during 'Ori Classes, you san still attend the class to watch and take notes as long as you have paid your registration.
  4. Who are the Instructors?
    Steve Chailloux is a Professor and Expert of Reo Tahiti, Anthropologist, he is judged at the Heiva I Tahiti and many other 'Ori Tahiti Competitions outside of Tahiti. Poemoana, Tahitian dance expert
  5. What do I wear and what do I need to bring?
    -Please wear a "Pareo" (Sarong in Tahitian) during your 'Ori classes, you can wear a casual outfit for other classes. -Bring water to stay hydrated and change of clothes if necessary. -You may want to bring snacks as it is a whole day event. -You are allowed to take pictures during all classes but no videos or filming. -For the Reo Tahiti Course and Tahitian Culture Course, feel free to bring a notepad with pens or pencils to take notes.
  6. How can I register?
    All you need to do is to click on our events page and click on "buy your tickets now". You can also email us at events@porinetia.com. For payments, you can pay online or you can contact us if you are planning to make a payment for a group of minimum 5 dancers. We will work for you for payment arrangements.
  7. Can I wait to the last minute of the event to register?
    The location we have selected for this exclusive event has limited space. The last day to register is May 1st 2020, subject to availability.
  8. How much is the registration Fee
    The Fee per person is $200 and that includes all 6 hours courses from 'Ori Tahiti and Tahitian cultural Masters.
